“Even though Jewel is now 16, she never wants to be alone. It’s very difficult for us to have quality adult time. Because of the Respite Program, this past summer we were able to leave on a trip to celebrate an aunt’s 95th birthday. It was a wonderful 4 days for our family. Jewel was extremely well cared for while we were gone and had the opportunity to experience some fun and educational outings! PCBS has been a constant help for Jewel over the years. We are so very thankful!!”

“Our family has been a grateful beneficiary of funding from Platte County Connections respite programming for Platte County. We have moved around a lot but have been in the Kansas City metro area for over five years now. We have no family near us, so to find this support of respite programing in our area, truly has been a blessing for our family.
Our son, Ryan, is now 22 and will always need a 24/7 caregiver, which puts a great strain on our ability to venture out on occasion for a much needed reprieve from the day-to-day responsibilities we have in caring for him. Having this funding has afforded us the ability to decompress and recharge from time to time.
Respite funding is such a crucial need for so many families out there who dearly love their children, but so desperately need the occasional break from time to time to keep going. The journey of special needs parenting can be so isolating, so the gift of respite reminds us that somebody cares…thank you.❤️”
